Background and research path
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Western Postdoctoral Research Awardee at FAST Lab, Western University (Canada), where I work at the intersection of design, materials, and digital fabrication for sustainability and open-source practices. I obtained my Ph.D. in Design (with Honors) in 2024 from Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Design Department, working at the intersection of design research and materials engineering for additive manufacturing and circular economy.

My interdisciplinary research background comes from a deep curiosity in interacting with products, materials, and technologies. Through my research experience as a Research Fellow (2018-2024) at Politecnico di Milano (Department of Chemistry, Materials, and Chemical Engineering "Giulio Natta"), I had the opportunity to merge design research and materials engineering, gaining expertise at the intersection of the two disciplines.
I received my BSc in Product Design in 2015 and my MSc in Design & Engineering (full marks) in 2018 from Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis focused on the codesign of Open Source 3D-printed, customized assistive technology developed at +LAB.
From 2017 to 2024, I was part of +Lab, the first 3D printing lab at Politecnico di Milano, and I joined the Materials Design for Transitions Research Group after starting my Ph.D. path in 2020.
I had experience as a visiting Ph.D. candidate at FAST Lab from fall 2022 to spring 2023, exploring open design and distributed recycling for additive manufacturing. During my studies, I also worked as a designer in the household appliances and textile fields.

Beyond research, I am deeply committed to teaching, mentoring, and academic service, working with students at all levels, contributing to the broader academic community, and engaging with makers, designers, engineers, and communities who share an interest in open and sustainable futures.
